I forget.
I forget at least 689 times a day.
God is good. And he knows what He’s doing.
So make your thoughts aslave to God. Behave as though you believe in His truth.
And even when you don’t believe it…behave as though you believe in His truth.
Because perception and reality and truth are all different.
Your perception is the world through the lens that you’ve created. Through this lens you “see” the motivations of others, you base your own actions upon these conclusions, and you have to do a lot of clean-up because you’re wrong. A lot.
Reality is the base. The facts. Jack and Jill went up a hill to fetch a pail of water. Done. That’s the reality of the situation. Jill percieves that Jack doesn’t really want to go up the hill with her; he’s just being polite. She’s not pretty enough or fast enough for him to actually want to walk up the hill with. Jack perceives that Jill is pulling away from him. “She probably thinks that I smell. I wish a girl like that could like me.” Poor kids.
Truth. Truth is God. Simple. Lame sounding. True. The truth directs the paths of these kids. We all know that—unless they’re siblings—these crazy kids are gettin’ hitched one day.
So what do I do with all of these flyaway fears and doubts and anxieties? Somebody big told me to hand ‘em over. I guess that’ll do. :) Sometimes remembering takes a lot of discipline. Forcing your thoughts and actions and heart to be reigned in hard to God.
